
A Real-World Look at Carbon Fiber IR Quartz Lamps (1000W-1600W)
We built these carbon fiber infrared lamps to solve a common headache. Usually, you’re stuck choosing between a standard quartz heater that feels a bit weak or a halogen tube that’s powerful but breaks if you look at it wrong. These sit right in the sweet spot. By wrapping a carbon fiber element in high-purity quartz glass, you get heat that actually hits the target without the constant fear of a fragile filament snapping.
Picking Your Power
You can grab these in 1000W, 1500W, or 1600W. Now, the 1600W version gets you to your target temperature fast. Really fast. But there’s a catch: it puts a lot of stress on your housing. If you’re squeezing a 1600W lamp into a tight space, make sure your airflow is on point. If the heat builds up too much around the glass, you’re risking a crack from thermal shock. It’s a bummer, and it’s totally avoidable.
Why Carbon Fiber?
If you’ve used standard metal filaments, you know they love to burn out right at the connection points. It’s frustrating. We switched to carbon fiber because it just handles the heat better. It doesn’t warp or deform. Plus, the quartz envelope does the heavy lifting—it keeps the element from oxidizing while letting those short and medium-wave IR rays fly straight through. The result? More heat on your workpiece and less heat wasted inside the lamp.
Getting Them Set Up
Most of the time, these just slide right into your old IR systems. It’s a simple swap. One quick tip: use high-temperature leads for your wiring. Trust me. You don’t want to find out the hard way that your insulation has melted near the terminals. And here is the most important part:keep the glass clean. Quartz is picky. A single fingerprint or a smudge of oil can create a “hot spot” on the glass. Once that happens, the glass stresses out and fails. Before you flip the switch, give the tubes a quick wipe with some isopropyl alcohol. It takes ten seconds and saves you from buying a replacement lamp.
