We use a carbon fiber filament that puts out shortwave radiation. In plain English? The heat doesn’t bother wasting time warming up the air around the part. It just goes straight into the material. The power side of things At 700W over 360mm, you’ve got a sweet spot. It’s plenty of punch to get the job done, but it won’t melt your lamp housing if you’re careful. It’s incredibly fast. But here’s the catch: your power supply needs to be rock solid. If you’ve got voltage spikes jumping around, you’ll fry that carbon filament way faster than you would with an old-school tungsten wire. Keep it steady. Why carbon fiber? Metal filaments hate it when things get hot and cold quickly—they expand, they shrink, and eventually, they snap. Carbon fiber handles that stress much better. It’s tougher. Plus, because of how the light spectrum shifts, you aren’t wasting energy heating up your conveyor belt or the frame of your machine. The heat actually goes where it belongs: the workpiece. One quick tip: if you’re dropping these into an old rig,**clean your reflectors.**A dusty or dirty reflector basically kills the efficiency of a carbon lamp. It’s not worth the waste. Getting them to work for you These are pretty easy to swap into most industrial drying or curing lines. You can get them wired up in no time. Just keep in mind that they don’t “throw” heat the same way halogen tubes do. You might find you need to tweak your PID settings or move the lamp a little closer to the target to hit your temperature goals. And a word of warning: don’t run these at 100% all day without some decent ventilation. If the heat just sits there, those end caps are going to take a beating. Give them some room to breathe.
